I was recently listening to NPR on the radio and heard the statistic that per capita, Honduras, because of drugs and drug trafficking, is the #1 murder capital of the world. And even more shocking is the fact that boys as young as 11 and 12 are being recruited as "drug runners". So many teenage boys are caught up into the drug trade and some have even been gunned down in the streets. The Little League team that we sponsor is a safe place for these boys. It is a way to keep them away from potential disaster and put them right in the middle of where they should be... having fun!
The goal of Chasing Hope is to better the lives of children by providing for the needs of orphanages worldwide. By supporting the basic needs of these children through shelter, clean water, nutrition and education, we are giving hope. Through hope, a better future is certain.
There are nearly 144 million orphans worldwide...
Every day 5,760 more children become orphans
HIV/AIDS has orphaned 15 million children
Every 2 seconds an orphan dies from malnutrition
In developing countries, one third of all children live in poverty. More than half are severly deprived of adequate shelter, sanitation, clean water, education or food.
Orphans are highly vulnerable to the abuses and exploits of adults.
We are raising funds in three different ways:
1. Our primary source of fundraising is to "run for a cause". You can make a difference in a childs life by raising support and running a marathon or half marathon. Our coaches will be there to give you training advice and encouragement in both running and fundraising.
2. The next way that you can help is by being a monthly sponsor.
